Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society

The North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) is a professional organization of more than 400 members who are fully trained ophthalmologists or neurologists. NANOS is dedicated to the achievement of excellence in patient care through the support and promotion of education, communication, research, and the practice of neuro-ophthalmology.

ORBIS is a nonprofit, global development organization whose mission is to eliminate avoidable blindness by strengthening the capacity of local eye health partners in their efforts to prevent and treat blindness. Through the principles of capacity building, local partners gain self-sufficiency in eye health care, and residents enjoy quality eye health services that are affordable, accessible and sustainable.

ASCRS is an international educational and scientific organization whose 9000 member ophthalmologists specialize in cataract and refractive surgery.

The mission of the American Glaucoma Society is to promote excellence in the care of patients with glaucoma and preserve or enhance vision by supporting glaucoma specialists and scientists through the advancement of education and research.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology

The Association for Research in Vision in Ophthalmology "The purposes of ARVO shall be to encourage and assist research, training, publication, and dissemination of knowledge in vision and ophthalmology." Article 1.02 of the Bylaws

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines.
