Objectives: Upon completion of this conference the resident/student should have an understanding of evaluation of the optic nerve in the management of glaucoma and should be able to

  • Describe the anatomy and pathology of the optic nerve
  • Describe the characteristics of glaucomatous optic neuropathy
  • Discuss the theories of glaucomatous optic nerve damage
  • Describe the techniques for the examination of the optic nerve
  • Describe the appearance of the normal and glaucomatous optic nerve head

 

Assignment: Please read the “Optic Nerve” section of Chapter 3 Clinical Evaluation in the Glaucoma book from the BCSC Series
