After completion of this conference, residents should understand the principles of ocular trauma management, especially with respect to open globe injuries. Topics will include indications for surgical exploration and repair, suture choice, indications for retina referral, and other related topics.
This conference will address the basic management of surgical retina patients. Topics will include vitrectomy, sceral buckle, pneumatic retinopexy, and principles of retinal detachment repair. After this talk, residents should have a better understanding of the intraoperative and preoperative decisions that define the management of surgical retina patients.
Following this conference, residents should have a basic understanding of the steps of trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device surgeries, as well as a greater appreciation of their indications.
Following this course, residents should have a good understanding of the techniques used in anterior segments lasers such as YAG PI, YAG capsulotomy, SLT, and CPC (taught by Dr. Miller) as well as retinal lasers such as retinopexy, PRP, and focal laser applications (Dr. Gallagher).
Following this course, residents should be able to describe the steps of common eyelid surgeries in great detail, while possessing a comprehension of the principles of each surgery and its indications.
