No single department of ophthalmology has the best lecturers in every field. Open Ophthalmology is a is a meta-school in which lecturers from different departments have access to ophthalmology residents everywhere. I have seeded this marketplace of ideas with my own course on clinical optics. Enjoy.

We are pleased to announce that the first issue of the 2009 Video Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery is on the Web for the first time in 25 years!  Since 1985 the Journal has been donated to every residency and training program in the United States and is viewed in more than 150 countries.  Prior to this year, the Journal was only available on DVDs but our recently launched website should be more convenient for residents and fellows to view each hour long program which is jam-packed with important surgical techniques.

This site is dedicated to teaching gonioscopy through the use of videography. It covers the basic examination techniques and more advanced techniques, such as indentation and the corneal wedge. There are video examples of most glaucoma-related diseases.

Ocular pathology is an integral part of the final MRCOphth / MRCS. However, most candidates probably have never seen a single histopathology slide until a few months before the examination. It is recommended that you should start examining the slides four to six months before the examination to get use to using the microscope and analysing the slides. Most teaching centre have a collection of ophthalmology slides for examination and the pathologists are usually helpful and imaginative (for example who else would have incorporated the following figure into their work?
